About the company

Based in Stockholm, Projectplace International AB was founded in January 1998 by a group of research engineers, who in 1997 attracted international attention when they launched the world's first pay-per-use project collaboration service with integrated secure Internet credit card payments.

We also have offices in Norway, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Our plan is to enter several more European markets in 2001 and further on.

Today’s owners are the founders and two venture capital companies, Investor Growth Capital and Artic Ventures.

Projectplace International AB is an Internet Application Service Provider (ASP). We provide professional Web-based project collaboration services, by means of shared "Project Places", that enable easy collaboration and communication between geographically dispersed and cross-functional project teams.

A Project Place is designed to be used by anyone involved in a project at any time throughout the entire life-cycle of the project. The Project Place's open, standards-based architecture is the ideal complement to popular CAD, document management, and project management software.

The Project place – More than a Shared Archive

Every Project Place contains a Document Archive that is shared among the project members. For ease of use, the archive's interface resembles that of   Windows Explorer. In addition, if you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (or above), you can even move folders and documents, to and from the document archive, in the same way as on your PC, i.e. by dragging and dropping them anywhere you want them

Besides the shared document archive, the Project Place includes a number of services for project collaboration:

  • Daily Activity Reports provide an easy way to keep track of what is happening in all the projects to which you have access. The activity report is compiled nightly and sent to you by email. The report lists the previous day's activities, sorted by project, and keeps you informed without the need to log in to the Web service. You can configure the report to include several different types of events and you can also opt out of receiving any report at all if you wish.
  • You can add Document Templates that can be used by other members of your team, to rapidly create new documents.
  • By turning on the integrated Version Control, you will have a well-structured sharing of working material. Furthermore, Descriptions and Comments can be attached to documents to facilitate efficient collaboration.
  • Meeting Services makes it easy to invite project members to meetings and provides you with a personal overview of the meetings you are scheduled to participate in.
  • The Project Calendar, Task List and Discussion Area improve project tracking and communication and facilitate close collaboration.

Large Bandwidth Internet Connections
You must be able to access your Project Places at any time from any Internet connection. We have very fast and reliable access to Internet with:

  • Large-bandwidth redundant Internet connections to one of the main Internet connection points.
  • High capacity trans-Atlantic connections.
  • Redundant routers with fail-over configuration.

Secure Server Architecture
Our Web service is built for high performance and maximum scalability. More servers can be added with increased demand - without interruption. The server architecture includes:

  • Application and Web servers in the form of several load-balanced multi-processor Enterprise servers.
  • Database server mirrored in a fail over server that will take over if the main server is interrupted.
  • LAN with redundant network switches and fail-over configuration.
  • Highly-secure computer facility with cooling systems, UPS, backup systems, fire protection and 24-hour supervision.

Password Protection and Encryption
To provide maximum security the Web service has:

  • Password protection: only invited project members have access to a Project Place.
  • Automatic user logout: to prevent anyone accessing Project Places if a computer is left logged in and unattended, we have automatic log-off after 30 minutes of inactivity.
  • Encrypted communication: all communication between our servers and your computer is encrypted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer), which is the same technology used by Internet banking services.
  • Protected database: our Web service has a modular architecture that physically separates the application servers and databases, enabling the best security solutions. All information in a Project Place is stored in a secure database, which is physically separated from the application servers connected to Internet. We have designed the database as a "banking system", so even our own staff cannot retain data from a Project Place that they do not have access to.

All these security features are designed to keep your information safe and accessible only by project members. In order to maintain this state-of-the-art security, we consult external security expertise, on a regular basis, to audit our security mechanisms and to prevent intrusion attempts.

Thanks to our highly efficient technology, a high degree of automation and large volumes, we are able to offer extremely modest prices.

  • The cost for the first eight members in a project is just 7.20 £ per month per member.
  • For members 9 to 15, the cost is only 5.40 £ per month, and for additional members 3.10 £ per month.
  • The first 10 MB storage is free of charge. Additional storage is available for 7.20 £ per month for every 10 MB.
  • Pre-payment for a period makes you eligible for a discount up to 40%.

VAT is not included.

This price model is based on the Project Manager, however we are right now developing a model for corporate accounts that will be launched in 2001.
