The City of Antwerp is developing the concept of its urban intranet, with the support of the European Union. Over 10.000 inhabitants are already living in a virtual city called 'Digitale Metropool Antwerpen' (DMA). Information at http://www.dma.be For ETW '97, 'Strategisch Plan Regio Antwerpen' (SPRA) is planning to organise a seminar on Telework on November 4th, jointly with Innotek, the Innovation & Technology Center of the Kempen region. Innotek opened last year the first telecottage in Belgium, offering 15 workplaces to people from the area of Geel, a little town located 40 Km east of Antwerp. The Telework seminar will take place in the 'Provincie-huis van Antwerpen'. A team of top specialists from various constituencies concerned will come and present their views on different aspects of telework, as follows: - Introduction by Christian Van Asbroeck, Belgian Teleworking Association (BTA) - ‘Telework and skills acquisition' by Marc Vandercammen, Institut Wallon d'Etudes, Recherches et Formation (IWERF) - 'Legislation on home teleworking' by Laura Ballarin, Ministry of Work and Employment - '1000 teleworkers at IBM Belgium' by Jean-Claude Adam, IBM Belgium - 'Economic and social aspects of telework' by Paul Van Binst, Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) A cocktail will close the conference and foster informal contacts between participants and with the speakers.
