EURINOME'S GAMBIT
CHAOS IN ACTION

4 NOVEMBER - 8 NOVEMBER 1997
 Project by
 EVGENIJA DEMNIEVSKA
EURINOME´S GAMBIT / CHAOS IN ACTION
is an interactive, creative multimedia event geared towards a world without borders a planet wide participation.
Thessalonika, the host city of "Days of culture 97" for Europe and other cities: Paris, Rome, Skopie, Belgrade, Sofia, Istanbul, Bucharest . . . . would form the initial net for a planetwide event the symbolic circle of the material/virtual space and environment made more and more visible by today's technologies.
Interaction increases energy and frees the spirit, guiding towards complete flexibility. The author, together with a multi-professional team present in each of the participating cities, will initiate and record the continuous transformation that itself is the work.
The participants can choose to be the possibility, and can choose freely which possibility they wish to be. Going beyond all of our experience and following our intuition, we will take the risk of doing, feeling; the action which is cause and effect, approaching the essence of chaos , reaching the magic place in ourselves from which the miracle is possible.
Thismeans: Internet, fax, mail , telephone, television radio, word of mouth...will be used both to invite people to participate and to enlarge the initial circle by building the virtual space of the collective consciousness.
The author will create an ambient, changeable installation in the real space in Thessalonika, and from there will co-ordinate the work of the teams in each city , who will do the same thing. The teams will be composed of people from different fields of art and science, people open to experimentation and new possibilities, with the intuition and quick reflexes to initiate and record the turning points of the change in flux, leading the action in the direction of miraculous surprises.
It will be indispensable to the success of the project to have the co-operation and support of institutions that can provide access to the most advanced communications technology. In each city, the team should be provided with: computers with Internet access and video conferencing, video equipment, fax, telephones, photocopiers, photography, and the coordination of radio and television.
The Internet site will continue to evolve new possibilities for the new transformations.
The project will be shown to all interested institutions as an exhibition. There will be a multimedia - post production on CD-Rom/DVD.

Just in case you want to know the origins of Eurinome’s Gambit, here it is.
Eurinome
Eurinome is the Greek goddess of Chaos. According to the Pelasgian myth of creation, in the begining Eurinome emerged, nude, from Chaos. Since there was no solid place for her to put her feet, she separated the Sky and the Ocean and, dancing on the waves, she made her way south. Her dance stirred the wind which was something new, something different, and now Eurinome could create. She rolled the wind between her hands and Ophion , the great serpent, appeared.
Eurinome's charismatic dance filled Ophion with desire. He coiled himself around her limbs and, with the help of the wind, united with her. She took the form of a dove and brought forth the egg of the Universe. At her request, Ophion wrapped himself seven times around the egg, from which all that exists was born: the Sun, the Moon, the Planets, the Stars, the Earth its mountains, rivers, trees, and all living things.
