Dutch Telework Award '98
On November 4th the Dutch Telework Award will be presented for the fifth time. There are
two awards: the Telework Award for a succesful telework project and the Telework Aspect
Award, which is meant for a new product, a study or a publication, that contributes to the
stimulation of telework. The award will as always be handed over by a politician. The
event takes place in Media Plaza in Utrecht, a Knowledge and Demonstration Centre for
electronic highway applications, that is supported by the Dutch Ministery of Economic
Affairs.

European Telework Awards '98
The Dutch Telework Association will participate in the European Telework Awards via
videoconferencing. The Dutch Telework Forum is also the initiator of the European Future
Prize and will provide a specially developed Quick Scan to all EU-member states. The Quick
Scan is a tool to enable companies and teleworkers to see, if they are able to implement
telework.
During the Dutch Telework Week two information meetings are planned. One for politicians
and members of Parliament, who are responsible for telework-related issues like electronic
highway, traffic, regional planning, employment and disabled. The elections have taken
place in May. The new ministers and the new members of Parliament are expected to be sworn
in July or August.
The Dutch Telework Forum will try to convince them of the benefits of telework
and the neccesity of further stimulation of telework.
A second meeting will be devoted to the business and management press.
Telework is getting a lot of attention in the Dutch press, some journalists
and media don't use the rights expressions and focus on perceptions. They
don't seem to understand the real nature, the possibilities and the consequences
of teleworking for business and society. By informing them in an objective
way about teleworking and new ways of working we hope, that the press
will contribute to a more positive image of teleworking in the future.
