The Future PrizeDuring the annual European Telework Week and the concurrent Dutch Telework Week (2-7 November), an essay-writing competition on "Teleworking in the future" will be organised on the Internet. What will teleworking look like in 10 years time (in the year 2008)? What will its place in society be? Will there be paperless virtual offices by then? The ten essays with the most convincing and innovative visions will be chosen from among the entries, placed under seal by a civil-law notary and filed so that in ten years time we can see which vision comes the closest to reality. The entrant with the most true-to-life essay will receive a gift voucher (in euros) for a telework station that can be used at home or while on the move. The ten nominated entrants will each be given their own professionally developed and
designed personal home page to present their essays. The home pages can then be linked to
the sites of all the Telework organisations in Europe.
The nominations will be published on 6 November, either before or after the presentation of the European Telework Awards. We hope to create a video-conferencing link between Mediaplaza in the Netherlands and the Palace Hotel in Brussels to announce the nominations. This initiative is being supported by the Dutch Telework Platform, Unisys and KPN.
Further details of this initiative will appear in the next issue and will appear on the
websites of ETW and ETO. Home
