Preparatory work-shop: The Finnish strategy is to be a forerunner in the construction of an Information Society based on humane and sustainable development. To support this vision, a national master project – Quality of life, Knowledge and Competitiveness, addressing the seven areas as Culture, knowledge products and services, Development of electronic commerce, Personal navigation, The learning environment of knowledge networks, Knowledge based work, Business networking and telework and Local Information Society – has been launched. 
The Levi work-shop aims at drafting a co-ordinating mechanism for Business networking and telework.

GERMANY

 Virtual Workshop for Teleworkers and Managers

During the European Telework Week the Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln, Germany will organise a virtual workshop for teleworkers and their managers to discuss problems associated with telework in SMEs. The initial discussion forum with a selected group of participants will take place during the first week in November. The discussion will then be opened for a two week period to any other participants before the closing session in mid-November. The workshop is being organised as part of the ADAPT project TELESKOP and further information will be available shortly at www.teleskop.de . Anyone interested in participating in the workshop is requested to contact the organisers at teleskop@iwkoeln.de .

The University of Kassel are going to hold a workshop about the neccessity of telework in the state of Hessia. A couple teleworking specialists will be holding speeches and lectures during the workshop which will take place on Nov. 4th between 16.30 - 19.30 hrs.

OnForTe is the Online Forum Telearbeit (online forum teleworking) which is being run and serviced by the German Postal Union. It´s being sponsoredpartly by Deutsche Telekom, German Ministry of Economy and Technics, the German Postal Union, the German Union of Governmental Workers and the Union of Media Workers/Employees. The project runs since 1997 and mainly answers employee-related questions regarding teleworking. The project will run until end of 2003.
They will have an online chatforum throughout the whole of ETW 99. Web-site  www.onforte.de 


A project initiated by the state of Baden Württemberg. On November 8th they´ll have a "real" teleworking day in Stuttgart with lectures, presentations, workshops all about teleworking. More information can be found at www.anwenderplattform-telearbeit.de

European telecentre network TELWEB
TELWEB is a project funded by the European Commission. The goal is to establish a transnational European network of telecentres. Thetelecentre-network represents an organisationally and a physically integrated system of existing telecentres throughout Europe. It offers many kinds of external services particularly to small and medium-sized enterprises that want to outsource business functions, no matter what its sector or location may be. Services in this category include video-conferencing, information brokering, mailing assignments, desktop publishing, website design, fax and copying services, translation, provision of tele-learning facilities, and technical support and hotline services through callcentres. World-wide, TELWEB is a unique forum offering this kind of transnational platform for small and medium-sized firms.

During the European Telework Week 99, which takes place in all EU member countries from 2nd - 8th November, TA Telearbeit the responsible co-ordinator of TELWEB arranges an information forum, which offers all people interested in TELWEB the possibility to discuss the project as well as to ask questions about its use. Inquiries can be adressed to the TELWEB team either via telephone, fax, email or video conferencing.
During the ETW 99 the information forum is opened daily from 9.00 h to 17.00 h.

Time and space in female work with new technologies

 Content:

Networked initiatives organised in many cities (Trieste, Venice, Padova, Verona, Milan, Acqui Terme,  Florence, Rome, Bari) with presentation and debate on women's experiences with information and communication technology in different sectors: research, universities, companies, private and public services, penitentiaries…

A proposal of reflection on new competencies, new workers and new labour market in the Information Society, using videoconferences between different organisations and sites.

Participants: students, employed and unemployed women, women in prison, researchers, experts, managers, workers' and employers' organisations, public institutions representatives.

Date: several days between 1-8 November 1999.
