This year for the
third time, the European Telework Awards are taking place within the European
Telework Week (1st to the 8th of November 1999).
This year, six awards will be given to examples of excellence based on Telework in the following areas:
Best example in large organization
Best example in SMEs
Best supporting public initiative
Best contribution to public awareness
Best initiative supporting disadvantages
Best supporting technology or service.
26 candidates from
10 different countries in Europe submitted proposals for the evaluation by a
panel of experts on the 24th of September. As a result
a short list of 3 contenders in
each category was announced on the final day of the European Assembly on
Teleworkin Aarhus (Denmark).
The three highest
rated contenders in each category are invited to attend the Awards Ceremony in
Brussels and asked to prepare a short 5 minutes presentation on their project.
The ceremony will take place in Sodehotel in Brussels on the 5th of November.

These will be
presented in the afternoon with the exception of the category best supporting
technology and service which will have the opportunity to be presented in the
Technologies for Telework seminar in the morning.
During the Award
Ceremony, the audience will be asked to rate each presentation. These scores
will be combined with the expert evaluation to give the final winner in each
category.
Each winner will
receive the award, which is one of a limited series of reproduction of the
original sculpture made by Liliane Caumont.
